Egis’s environmental project management assistance team wanted to renew team building activities with an innovative programme and a day spent doing entertaining and meaningful activities.
This team is specialised in construction engineering and works daily to improve its buildings’ environmental quality with certifications such as HQE®, BBC®, BREEAM®, etc. The engineering company, specialised in environmental consulting, wanted to bring together its employees from the environmental department around subjects related to sustainability. Since this team’s projects are linked to sustainable development, it seemed logical to build the activity day around the heart of their motivation: respect for people and for the environment.
ekodev organised an activity day for all employees so they could learn more about biodiversity. After visiting the chateau de la Bourdaisière, the employees met Grégoire, the micro farm gardener. They learnt the basics about permaculture and were given tasks to contribute to the life of the kitchen garden for one day. They alternated between theory and practice. Permaculture takes into account all aspects of the ecosystem in addition to the well-being of mankind. After a short meditation time, Cyril, the owner, invited them to eat lunch cooked with farm products. Then, Egis employees discovered beekeeping during an introduction to the chateau beehives. They were taught about the fascinating organization of the colony and about the role of bees in biodiversity and the food chain. It was a moment for employees to share and an opportunity for them to rediscover sustainable development in action, as well as a way of life which breaks with current food production modes.
