In 2013, in the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region, Nacarat made a commitment to biodiversity and climate. The company wanted to strengthen its local presence by regenerating local landscapes. This allows them to create strong social value.
The real estate developer and ekodev launched a reforestation project near a building site. A spoil tip, symbol of the region’s mining history, came back to life. The entire local community was invited to participate. Prisoners on day parole, horticulture students and traditional farmers joined forces and worked hand in hand to give life to a traditional orchard for conservation and a park with 2,800 trees. Curious passersby could taste different species of apples and pears becoming rarer and rarer in the region.
ekodev brought people from different horizons together around a showcase project in France to preserve biodiversity.
